Why Nd:YAG and Why Er:YAG
Why Er: YAG?   Why Nd:YAG?

Advanced performance Fotona VSP Er:YAG lasers inherently ablate skin more efficiently. The energy is highly absorbed in water – the main target chromophore for skin resurfaceing – and can thus vaporize skin with micron-precision and very little thermal conduction. This keeps undesirable effects such as pigmentation and erythema to minimum and greatly shortens recovery time.

The VSP Er:YAG laser in SP Spectro and XS Dynamis can be accurately tuned to varying “cold” to ‘hot’ ablation and ‘non ablative ‘ to ‘varying ablative depths’ ratios.

CO2  or Er,Cr:YSGG produce deeper thermal effect due to lesser absorption in water and produce severe undesirable effects while increasing down time. The minimum coagulation depths on these lasers is 5 to 10 times higher than Er:YAG leading to these severe effects.

On the other hand, the variable pulse of Fotona Er:YAG puts in your hands total control of ablation and coagulation of as low as 3 microns and to tune to emulate the effects of CO2  and Er,Cr:YSGG lasers.

Fotona’s new V SMOOTH mode adds another dimension to non ablative rejuvenation for deeper collagen modelling equivalent to other non ablative lasers.

Why Other Er:YAG Lasers are not able to produce effects like Fotona VSP Er:YAG Laser?
The simple answer is that most competitive Er:YAG lasers are produced with only fixed pulse width of 300-350 microseconds while Fotona is able to provide 7 pulse widths from 50 – 1000 microseconds ultra long pulse in SMOOTH and V-SMOOTH Mode.

And for Fractional Procedures nobody offers a wide range of 4 stamping handpiece and super performing F-Runner Scanner for vastly superior results.

Latest research has show that Fotona Er:YAG laser is able to address similar effects like CO2 laser on deeper scars but with reduced downtime and reduced risk of pigmentation.

 

Ever since laser hair removal  was introduced in early nineties, it has remained the single most leading aesthetic procedure. Ruby laser (694nm) and Alexandrite (755nm) proved their utility for skin types I-III, treatment of  darker skin types VI-VI posed a grim challenge. Advent of Intense Pulse Light Systems (570-1200nm) and Diode (800nm) lasers expanded laser hair removal to darker skin types however safety poses a big concern as skin melanin competes with melanin in follicle to produce some serious side effects like burns, pigmentary alteration  and prolonged erythema.

Long Pulse Nd:YAG (1064nm) though absorbed slightly less in melanin is more homogenously absorbed in the follicle while sparing skin melanin for efficacious hair removal in darker skin types (VI-VI)  with no side effects.  This has been proven in several international studies.

Mikro Scientific realized the potential of Long Pulsed Nd:YAG laser for Hair Removal and other aesthetic applications on dark skin and introduced these lasers in India.  After over a decade of use in India, we feel proud that our belief has been vindicated. Nd;YAG has proven to be the safest for Indian skin at the same time yielding better results.

Do  all Nd:YAG lasers deliver same results?
No. Treatment outcome greatly depends on Pulsing techniques, energy distribution during pulse delivery and quality of the laser beam.

Fotona Nd:YAG laser technology based on high peak powers, Variable Square pulse technology and totally flat beam profiles produce vastly superior results.

Fotona Nd:YAG – Ultra Short Pulse Mode Superior Hair Removal
Treatment of fine hair still remained a challenge with all lasers. Fotona has addressed this issue with introduction of short sub millisecond pulses. All users report vastly superior results in treatment of hair with greater patient satisfaction.

Fotona Nd:YAG – FRAC 3 -Ultra Short Pulse Mode For Stimulating Collagen Formation
Fotona Accelera mode has shown to selectively heat small imperfections and in homogeneities< 50µ in the skin, effectively creating FRAC 3’s distinct 3-Dimensional pattern of of fractional islands of thermally affected skin leading to new collagen formation, improvements in erythema, pore size, skin texture and tone that overall improve skin quality.

This unique non ablative fractional technique has an advantage over conventional two dimensional  fractional treatment that not all of the targeted tissue is uniformly affected or even removed. It leaves the maximum healthy tissue to promote rapid healing and minimum downtime.

Fotona Nd:YAG – QCW Mode of Laser Lipolysis
and Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)

Research has shown that QCW mode of Fotona Nd:YAG when used in lipolysis results in largets volume of heated sub cutaneous tissue compared to other lasers, making it more efficient. At the same time, undesirable tissue effect on neighbouring tissue is kept to minimum, making it less invasive and faster healing.

Several lasers have been used for Endovenous treatment and are effective but with Fotona QCW mode it is much safer and more comfortable to patients. Studies (25W, 423 legs) have proven that with Fotona’s laser has resulted in 98.5% of the veins remained occluded after one year after treatment with Fotona laser.

Why and Er:YAG and Nd:YAG Laser Combination?

While Fotona Er:YAG can vaporize skin tissue with micron precision and very little thermal damage, Nd:YAG perfectly complements Er:YAG’s ablative action with its ability to penetrate deep into the skin to creat desired thermal effects without damaging the skin surface. Both these lasers can be very safely used in all skin types. And combined with Fotona’s proprietary VSP technology and wide range of pulsing modes on both these lasers, one can tune the treatment parameters to the desired tissue effect.
